What should I do after resetting my computer to sell it?

I just completed a computer reset on my 3-year-old Dell laptop, erasing everything, but I'm not sure if that's enough to sell it safely. Do I need to download Windows onto a USB drive and install it to make sure the new owner is set up correctly? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

If you did a factory reset, you're almost there! Just make sure to choose the "reset this PC" option during your setup process. After that, you'll be set to reinstall Windows. Just remember, once you go through the setup and see prompts like 'Is this the right country?', that's when you should prepare the USB with Windows using Rufus.

Here's a solid tip: After installing Windows, make sure to enable encryption and save a document with random text, then format the machine. This way, if anyone tries to recover your data, they'll see a bunch of gibberish due to encryption. Once you’ve done that, you're totally ready to sell!

To get your laptop ready for sale, first, you'll want to download Windows 11 to a USB drive. You can use a tool like Rufus to create a bootable USB. There’s also an option to erase your hard drive with ShredOS if you're worried about data recovery. Once you've wiped the drive, reinstall Windows from that USB drive and don’t forget to go to Dell's support site to download the necessary drivers afterward!
