What Should I Do After Spilling Coffee on My MacBook Pro?

I just accidentally spilled coffee with milk all over my MacBook Pro and my desk. I managed to wipe it up right away, and so far, the trackpad and touch bar are working fine, as is the screen. However, the keyboard keys aren't responding. I turned the laptop off and propped it up in a V shape. I'm really worried about the damage and need to inform my workplace about it. What should I do?

Honestly, putting it in a V shape might not be the best idea. You really want to soak up as much liquid as you can without moving the laptop around too much—that can make things worse. Maybe try putting some absorbent paper between the keys? After that, let IT check it out. It's their job to deal with these messes!

You're right to be cautious. Just make sure you don't turn it back on until you've had it properly dried and cleaned. Keep it off for a day or two to really let it dry out.
