What Should I Do If My Phone Got Wet in the Snow?

I accidentally dropped my Samsung A16 in the snow while I was outside. I had it placed on top of some bags, and after about 10-15 minutes, I noticed it lying on a plank, not covered in much snow. Unfortunately, I fell into deeper snow, and I quickly took my phone and put it under my jacket. Now, a little while later, I'm hearing some strange sounds coming from the speaker. I want to make sure to get rid of any moisture or water damage to avoid further issues. What steps should I take to remove moisture and protect my phone?

Your Samsung A16 has an IP54 rating, which means it’s somewhat protected against dust and water splashes. As long as you didn’t fully submerge your phone in melted snow, it should be okay. Just be sure to let it dry thoroughly before charging, and avoid applying heat like putting it on a stove or radiator. Power it down to be safe!

Thanks for the advice! My phone is back to normal now! But I'm worried because some snow got into that small hole on the top, and it melted. Should I be concerned about that?

I usually let my phone sit in a dry place for at least 24 hours after it gets wet. You might still have some moisture in the speaker holes, so just be patient and let it dry out.

Definitely power it down immediately and keep it in a dry area where you can monitor it, just in case it starts to swell from the moisture. Follow the 24-hour drying guideline. You can't really do much else right now, just let it be.
