I recently moved from Linux support into a junior role related to Management Information Systems. I got the position through a referral, but I have not received a detailed job description yet. Your work could include creating reports and dashboards, querying databases with SQL, maintaining data, automating recurring reports, or helping different teams get the information they need. Excel and Power BI may still be part of the job, but SQL is often the foundation for retrieving and preparing the data behind them.
