What Should I Focus on First While Learning C++?

I'm a first-semester computer systems engineering student and I've recently started learning C++. What fundamentals, habits, or skills should I prioritize at this stage? I'm also looking for free guidance or a supportive study group where beginners can ask questions and improve.

Start with the core fundamentals before jumping into advanced topics: variables, data types, control flow, functions, arrays, strings, classes, and basic memory concepts. Practice by writing small programs regularly, and spend time learning how to debug instead of only looking for finished solutions.
