I bought an HP OMEN 30L in 2021 with a Ryzen 5 5600G, 16GB of RAM, an RTX 3060, and a 1TB SSD. It's starting to feel a little dated, and I'm not sure which component is currently limiting performance. I have around $1,000 to spend and would appreciate advice on the best upgrade path for gaming and general performance.

First, check whether your 16GB of RAM is one stick or two. If it’s a single stick, adding a matching module can improve performance by enabling dual-channel memory. Ideally, replace it with a matched 32GB kit if your budget allows. An additional SSD is also useful for more storage, but RAID usually isn’t worth prioritizing for a gaming upgrade—especially since RAID 0 increases the risk of losing data and RAID 1 doesn’t improve game performance much.
With about $1,000 available, the graphics card is likely the most noticeable upgrade from an RTX 3060. A current-generation card in the upper-midrange can provide a substantial improvement at 1440p, but check the OMEN’s power supply, available space, and cooling before buying. The Ryzen 5 5600G can still handle many games, so you probably don’t need to replace the entire platform immediately. Upgrading to 32GB of dual-channel RAM at the same time would make sense if you currently have only 16GB or a single stick.
That makes sense. I’ll check the power supply model and whether the case has enough room before choosing a graphics card.
