What software can help diagnose random gaming freezes and stutters?

My PC recently started experiencing brief freezes and stutters during gaming, even though nothing obvious has changed. I've already checked the usual things and would prefer suggestions for more useful diagnostic tools or methods rather than being told to simply look at Task Manager. The issue isn't limited to one particular game; it tends to appear after I've been playing for a longer period, sometimes even when I'm no longer actively interacting with the game. What software can help identify the cause?

Task Manager is still useful as a baseline, but more details are needed to narrow this down: your CPU, GPU, RAM, temperatures, which games are affected, and whether another program is suddenly using CPU, GPU, memory, or disk resources. Since the problem appears after extended play and isn’t tied to one game, monitoring those values over time may reveal something that isn’t visible during a quick check.

I’ve already gone through those basic checks and nothing unusual shows up. It also happens across games after I’ve been playing for a while, and sometimes the freezes continue even when I’m no longer actively playing.
