What Specs Should I Look for When Upgrading My Brother’s Laptop for Frontend Development?

My brother is graduating soon and I want to get him a better laptop as a gift. He's been using a basic Chromebook that isn't cutting it anymore. He dislikes Apple products, so I'm searching for a laptop that suits his frontend development needs. I know some about computer components from building gaming rigs, but I'm not sure what exactly to look for in this case. Specifically, I'm curious about the ideal screen size, display resolution, CPU, graphics options (integrated vs. dedicated), RAM, and any other factors I might need to consider. Thanks in advance for the help!

He doesn’t need anything super high-end for frontend stuff, but make sure to prioritize at least 16GB of RAM (32GB if your budget allows). Go for a decent CPU like a Ryzen 7 or Intel i7, so he can juggle local builds and multiple browser tabs without lagging. A good 14-16" 1440p display can significantly improve his coding experience too. A dedicated GPU isn’t essential unless he's into advanced stuff like WebGL or design projects.

First off, what's your budget for the laptop? That'll really help narrow down the options.

For frontend development, basically anything will do as long as it has at least 16GB of RAM. The requirements are pretty low for just frontend work. Honestly, even a laptop from 10 years ago can still handle it!

If he's not into Apple, I recommend looking at Lenovo ThinkPad (P or T series) or the Dell XPS 14/16. They're solid choices and great for development.
