I'm looking for a laptop that can handle some casual gaming. I'm 49, and honestly, I feel a bit out of the loop when it comes to tech these days! I'd like to play games from Steam, especially Coral Island, and my usual gaming preferences lean towards puzzles and simulation games. I enjoy titles like Animal Crossing, the Rusty Lake series, The Room, cozy experiences like Cozy Grove, and classic point-and-click games from Sierra. Just to clarify, I have no interest in a Mac or MacBook. I'd love your recommendations on suitable laptops and any game suggestions you have in mind!

I own a 17.3-inch ASUS TUF laptop equipped with an i5 10th gen, RTX 3050, and 8GB of RAM. It runs most games well on low to medium settings. I actually upgraded it with an extra 8GB of RAM and an additional 1TB SSD. I got it for about $650 on sale a couple of years ago. Perfect for casual gaming!
As a small PC repair shop owner, I recommend looking at the Lenovo Legion series. For around $1000, you can grab a solid CPU and graphics card that should fit your needs. Also, while you're on Steam, definitely give RimWorld a try! It's a bit different from Coral Island but really engaging!
RimWorld is great, but be aware of its steep learning curve! It can get pretty complex compared to what you're used to with Coral Island.
