What upgrades should I make for better 1440p gaming performance?

Hey there!

I've recently taken up playing *Crimson Desert*, but I'm struggling with performance on my current PC setup while gaming at 1440p. I'm hoping to get some advice on how to upgrade my system for a better experience, and perhaps even venture into light 4K gaming down the line.

Here are my current specs:

- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
- **GPU:** NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 (8GB VRAM)
- **Motherboard:** ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS (AM4)
- **RAM:** 32GB DDR4
- **PSU:** Gigabyte GP-UD750GM (750W 80+ Gold)
- **Case:** Kolink Observatory HF Mesh ARGB
- **Storage:** 1TB SSD

I feel like my GPU is holding me back for effective 1440p gaming. Should I just go for a new GPU, like the RTX 4070 Ti Super or RX 7900 XT, or would it also make sense to upgrade my CPU to the 5800X3D within my budget? Any tips on optimizing my performance for 1440p gaming would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you're on the right track. The 4060 just isn’t going to cut it for 1440p gaming. With your €800 budget, focus on getting a new GPU first. If you're still looking for more performance after that, then consider upgrading your CPU later on.

Honestly, your CPU and RAM are solid for 1440p gaming. The real issue is definitely the GPU—not great for that resolution. Upgrading to a better GPU, like the RX 7900 XT, is your best bet. Don't stress about the CPU upgrade for now; it's not worth the money.

The 5800X still has enough juice for 1440p and even some 4K if you're not too picky about settings. I'd suggest upgrading the GPU first. Between the 4070 Ti Super and 7900 XT, I'm leaning towards the 7900 XT due to its additional VRAM and performance. Consider sticking with 60fps on medium settings for the next few years; that's realistic for upcoming games.

Right, plus with DLSS on the 4070 Ti Super, you can enhance performance in supported games without sacrificing too much graphics quality!
