I'm looking for a worthwhile used GPU upgrade in the Swedish and broader European market. My current system has a Ryzen 5 5600 and a GTX 1660 Super, and I'm aiming for around 120 FPS at 1080p with medium-to-high settings in both older and newer games. Battlefield 2042, Black Ops 6, and several recent titles already push the current card, and I'd also like to play demanding games such as Alan Wake 2. How much VRAM should I target for a comfortable experience over the next couple of years? I've seen used RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 3070 cards around €250, but I'm open to spending more if the upgrade better fits my goals. This system is connected to a BenQ W2720i projector, which can run at 1080p and up to 240Hz, although I haven't managed to get that refresh rate working through my Denon X3800H receiver.

I’d be cautious about paying much for a 2080 Ti now. It can still perform well, but the newer RTX 30-series cards generally offer better ray tracing and DLSS behavior. A 3070 around €250 is sensible, while a 3080, RX 6800, or RX 6800 XT would be preferable if the price difference is reasonable. A 4060 Ti 16GB is another option, though its value depends heavily on the local used price.
The GTX 1660 Super should still have some resale value, potentially around 800 Swedish kronor, so selling it after buying the replacement could help offset the upgrade cost.
I’d also keep an eye out for an RX 6700 XT or RX 6800. They offer strong raster performance and more VRAM than the 3070, which is useful for newer games and high-resolution textures. Since you’re playing at 1080p, AMD’s older cards can provide excellent value if ray tracing isn’t a major priority.
The extra VRAM is a real advantage for longevity, especially if you want to leave textures at high or ultra settings. Upscaling also tends to be less appealing at 1080p, so straightforward rendering performance matters more.
