What Would You Change About This Gaming and Content-Creation PC Build?

I'm planning a high-end PC mainly for gaming, with occasional video editing and Blender/3D work. The current build includes a Ryzen 7 9850X3D, Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE cooler, Asus TUF B850-Plus WiFi motherboard, 32GB of DDR5-6000 CL28 memory, a 2TB Lexar NM790 NVMe SSD, Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics, a Fractal Design North case, and an 850W Corsair RM850e power supply. The listed total is about $2,588. I'd appreciate feedback on compatibility, value, and any parts that should be changed.

A few specific changes are worth considering: the Ryzen 7 9800X3D may offer better value than the newer CPU for a gaming-focused system, and the expensive low-latency RAM upgrade is unlikely to matter much. For storage, consider a model with DRAM, such as the Lexar Professional NM1090 Pro, especially if you’ll be working with large video or 3D files. The RM850e is usable, but there may be higher-tier 850W power supplies available for less money. The Fractal Design North is attractive, though it is relatively expensive and large; if you keep it, adding a rear exhaust fan would be sensible.

You can make this build cheaper without giving up much performance. A Gigabyte B850 AORUS Elite motherboard, less expensive DDR5-6400 CL32 memory, a cheaper 2TB SSD, and a lower-cost 850W power supply bring the total down by roughly $230. The CPU, cooler, graphics card, and case can stay the same if those are the parts you prefer.

The overall parts selection looks solid, but the memory price is way too high. DDR5-6000 is the important target for this platform, and paying a large premium for CL28 probably won’t make a noticeable difference. Look for a cheaper kit with AMD EXPO support. I’d also compare the Asus motherboard with something like the Gigabyte B850 AORUS Elite WiFi7, which offers a similar feature set at a comparable price.
