What’s a Good Upgrade Path for My PC Build?

I'm considering upgrading my current PC setup, which includes an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 with a GTX 1660 SUPER, to improve performance for gaming. I plan to replace the CPU, GPU, and possibly the PSU, and I'm hoping to keep the total cost under $700. I'd appreciate suggestions for reasonable components or specific upgrade paths that can help me achieve better gaming performance without breaking the bank.

If you're on a tight budget, consider a used GPU like the 3060 Ti or 3070, which can be found for around $200-$250. You can also grab a Ryzen 5 5500X3D for about $150. If you're still using the stock cooler, grab something like the Thermalright Assassin for a great price; it really does the job!

Thanks for the detailed info! I'll be checking out the cooler options soon. Is AliExpress a trustworthy option for CPUs?

Honestly, upgrading to an RX 4070 would be a great choice if it fits into your budget. The Ryzen 5 5600 or 5900 are also solid options that won't break the bank. These upgrades should enhance your gaming experience significantly!

I recommend these upgrades! You can keep your current PSU to save some money. Check out the Ryzen 5 5600 as a CPU option, which is around $135. For a video card, the ASRock RX 9060 XT offers 16GB and is priced at about $440. This setup will keep you well within your budget while delivering a significant boost in performance!

Would a 5600 really make a noticeable difference?

I had a similar setup and upgraded to the RX 5800 XT and then the 7900 XTX. My experience has been great; I can run games at max settings at 1440p with solid frame rates, with the lowest being around 90 fps in modded Oblivion. You could look into the Ryzen 5 5600 or even the 5800 series if your budget allows, and for GPUs, consider something like the RX 6800 XT or the RX 6700 XT, especially the 16GB versions if you can find them.

Thanks for the tip! I had my eye on the RX 5800 XT.
