I've noticed a significant increase in the prices of routers lately, especially mesh systems. Given that the hardware seems relatively simple—like having 2GB of RAM—I'm curious about what's driving these price hikes. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I've seen some wild prices too! For example, a three-pack mesh router can cost around $700 now, which feels absurd compared to when Wi-Fi first came out. Back then, the Linksys WRT54G was priced around $300. Seems like the costs have just kept climbing without much of a drop since then.

That's true! I haven’t personally noticed dramatic jumps outside the usual inflation, but maybe it varies by region or specific models.
