What’s Causing My SSD to Have Such High Response Times?

I'm experiencing an unusually high response time of 8,450 ms for my SSD as shown in the task manager, and the write speed is only 20.5 MB/s. In comparison, my other SSD has a response time of just 0.7 ms and a write speed of 450 MB/s. What could be the issue?

That sounds pretty concerning! Have you tried running CrystalDiskInfo? It gives a good overview of your SSD’s health and performance metrics. Might help identify what's going wrong.

I totally agree! Getting those stats is crucial. It might give you insights into the drive's actual health.

Just a thought, but if you're getting such slow speeds, it could be something as simple as not having the right drivers installed. Make sure your system is up to date, and that the SSD is properly configured in your BIOS.

It’s definitely curious. Do you know the brand and model of this SSD? Also, do you have any other SSDs installed? Sometimes, a conflict or a setting issue can lead to poor performance. Has this just started happening since you got the SSD?

It doesn't have a brand name, but yes, there's another SSD in my setup. I just picked it up today.

It might be a counterfeit or failing SSD, especially if it's acting like that right out of the box. You should check its health stats as well. If it’s an NVMe M.2, and it's new, make sure it's securely connected too. Also, if it’s branded as some generic model, that could be a red flag!
