What’s the best current way to export Claude conversations to Markdown or text?

I'm looking for a reliable way to save Claude conversations as Markdown or plain-text files. It would be helpful if the method could also preserve pasted content or attachments, although that part isn't essential. Older userscripts seem outdated because the interface changes frequently, and I'd prefer something that works with Tampermonkey, Violentmonkey, or a trustworthy browser extension without risking my data. What are people using now, and is there a reasonably fast automated option?

Another approach is to create a small local exporter that saves selected conversation text to a folder in the format you want. If you use the coding interface regularly, an assistant can help generate a script that writes the output directly to files. This gives you more control over filenames and storage, but it may need occasional updates when the interface changes.

There are several browser extensions that can export or copy conversations. I’d compare a few and check their permissions carefully before installing one. Some extensions may collect or transmit conversation data, so it’s worth choosing an established tool and reviewing its source or privacy policy if possible.

A simple option is to use the built-in share feature, open the shared conversation, and copy the formatted content from there. It only takes a few seconds and produces reasonably clean Markdown-like text. I haven’t found a userscript that stays reliable for long, since the interface changes often.

CopperLime19: That’s my main concern too. I’ve seen extensions that appear useful but request far more access than they should, so I’d rather test a couple carefully than install the first exporter I find.
