What’s the best DDR4 CPU under €200 to pair with an RTX 4060?

A friend is building a PC, and I already have 32GB of DDR4 memory and an older RTX 4060 available for the build. I'm looking for the best CPU option under €200 to pair with those parts. AMD's Ryzen processors seem like good choices, but I'm also wondering whether there are worthwhile Intel options. The budget may need to cover either the CPU alone or the CPU and motherboard, depending on the recommendation.

The best choice depends on whether this is mainly for gaming or other workloads, but there’s no need for an especially powerful CPU with an RTX 4060. A Ryzen 5 5600 or Core i5-12400F should be well balanced and avoid spending money on performance the graphics card may not use.

Intel is still a sensible option. An i5-12400F with a B660 or B760 DDR4 motherboard offers strong gaming performance and is usually easy to find at a reasonable price. Some 12th- or 13th-generation i5 models may also fit the budget depending on local sales.

For the CPU alone, the Ryzen 5 5600 is probably the safest value choice. It pairs well with an RTX 4060 and leaves enough budget for a reasonably priced AM4 motherboard if needed. A 5600X3D or 5500X3D could be worth considering if they’re available locally under €200, especially for gaming.
