For Linux, the CPU doesn’t need to be AMD specifically—any modern x86 processor should work well. The GPU is the more important choice, and AMD is generally the safer option for open-source driver support.
A reasonable starting point would be a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, a Radeon RX 9060 XT with 16GB, 32GB of DDR5 memory, a 1TB or 2TB SSD, a B650/B-series Wi‑Fi motherboard, an 850W power supply, and a case with good airflow. Keep the motherboard around the €150 range and choose the best-priced SSD and memory from reputable brands.
The ideal choice depends heavily on the games you play and your monitor resolution. For 1080p, the 7800X3D paired with a less powerful GPU makes more sense, while 1440p and ultrawide gaming benefit from spending more on the graphics card.
If you’re gaming at 1440p or higher, you could move to a Ryzen 5 9600X or Ryzen 7 7500X3D and put the savings toward a Radeon RX 9070 XT. At those resolutions, the graphics card will usually matter more than the CPU.
