What’s the best KVM setup for switching between an office and a front desk?

I'm looking for a KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) solution for my boss, who wants to use his office computer but also have it easily accessible at a front desk monitor and keyboard. I've found some over Ethernet options, but my concern is that none of them come with a switch or power control. We need something straightforward so he can just hit a switch when he moves to the front desk. Additionally, it shouldn't be constantly on for security reasons.

It sounds like your boss might benefit from a thin client setup with a virtualized desktop solution. That way, he can access his desktop from anywhere he needs to work.

What about using a laptop with docking stations in both locations? Many people have shifted to this model since COVID, and it’s quite handy. Plus, Windows 11 has a cool feature for managing multiple desktops, though I'm not sure that's what he's looking for.

Have you thought about using RDP to access his office PC from the front desk? It's a pretty smooth solution, but if he’s not a fan, there are other options.

Yeah, I've tried that route, but he doesn't like it.

Check out Aten KVM over IP switches. They’re designed for scenarios like this and might suit your needs perfectly!
