Think about preserving the memories beyond the website itself. Online services and domains can disappear or be forgotten, so encourage family members to download or print important photos and announcements. Keep an offline archive too, and consider arranging access for more than one person so the site doesn’t vanish if the original administrator is no longer available.
A simple form connected to cloud storage could handle photo submissions without requiring visitors to create accounts. People can open a link, add their pictures, and have them sent directly to a shared drive. That’s probably the easiest option if the main goal is collecting photos rather than building a full website. You could combine it with a basic page containing announcements and important links.
For a site like this, ease of use and low maintenance matter more than having lots of advanced features. A hosted site builder such as Squarespace or Wix may be a better fit than self-hosted WordPress because updates, security, backups, galleries, and announcements are handled for you.
