What’s the best way to learn GLua for Garry’s Mod addons?

I recently started learning to code and know the basics of Python and Lua. Since I want to create Garry's Mod addons, I've started studying GLua, but most of my learning has come from AI, and some of its explanations and code seem unreliable. How can I learn scripting more effectively without depending on AI or following highly specific tutorials?

Use the official Garry’s Mod wiki as your main reference rather than asking AI to generate complete addons. Look up hooks, entities, and functions, then test small examples in a blank addon or through the in-game Lua tools. Change one argument or line at a time and observe what happens. Experimenting with working code is a good way to understand what each part does, while the wiki gives you reliable syntax and examples.

MellowCedar42: I’ve followed some tutorials and written notes about what each line does. I also use AI occasionally for troubleshooting or discovering unfamiliar concepts, but I’ll spend more time checking the wiki and testing the code myself.

Books and structured learning material can help, especially for building a solid programming foundation instead of relying only on short examples.
