What’s the best way to record clean phone interviews on Android?

I need a reliable way to record phone interviews using Android phones. I'm fine with a beep or an announcement telling the other person that the call is being recorded, but the final audio needs to be clear enough for accurate transcription. I use several different phones, so I was hoping for a portable Bluetooth device that could connect to the phone while still routing audio to a car system or headphones. Are there any devices that work consistently across Android phones? I'd prefer not to rely on a phone-specific internal component or an app that only works on certain models.

The simplest dependable setup is speakerphone plus a separate digital recorder or dictation app placed close to the phone. It records both sides of the conversation without depending on Android’s call-audio restrictions. It may not sound as clean as a direct recording, though, so use a quiet room and keep the phone and recorder reasonably close together.

That could work in a pinch, but I’m hoping for something more portable and consistent for interviews in a car or at a desk.

A Bluetooth call recorder or recording adapter that sits between the phone and headset is probably the most flexible option if you switch between several Android phones. Just make sure it supports two-way call audio, not merely music playback. Some Bluetooth accessories only record the microphone side, so check reviews carefully before buying.
