I've built my gaming PC about 4 years ago, and I'm starting to notice some lag in newer games. I'm looking to invest around $500 for upgrades. Should I focus on upgrading the CPU and motherboard, or maybe consider getting a newer GPU like the 5070? I'm gaming exclusively at 1080p and I prefer sticking with Nvidia for the DLSS feature. Also, I don't have access to a Microcenter, but I can travel if necessary.

Here's my recommendation: First, replace your HDD with a 2TB NVMe SSD for faster load times. After that, consider getting better RAM—look for something faster or with higher capacity if you can. Then, think about upgrading your GPU.
You should definitely upgrade your RAM to something in the 3000-3200 MHz range, and swapping out that hard drive for an SSD would make a huge difference in performance. Those two changes alone should really help with the lag you're experiencing.
