What’s the Simplest Video Editor for Basic Social Media Videos on Fedora?

I'm looking for a very beginner-friendly video editor for Fedora KDE. I'm familiar with simple mobile apps like CapCut and InShot, but Shotcut, OpenCut, and Kdenlive felt too complicated when I tried them. I only need basic tools for making videos for social media, such as trimming clips, arranging them, adding simple text or music, and exporting them. What Linux apps would be easiest to learn?

I’d give Pitivi a try. It’s relatively simple compared with some of the more feature-heavy editors and should cover basic cutting, arranging, transitions, and titles without overwhelming you.

Avidemux is another lightweight option if your needs are mostly trimming, cutting, joining, or quickly re-encoding clips. It’s more basic than a full timeline editor, but that can make it easier to use.

OpenShot is probably the closest fit for what you described. It has a straightforward timeline and is aimed more at quick, simple editing than advanced production. Version 4.0 was also recently released, so it’s worth trying the current version.

Kdenlive can feel much easier once proxy clips are enabled. Proxies let the editor work with lower-resolution copies while you edit, which can make playback smoother and reduce frustrating slowdowns. It still has lots of advanced features, though, so Pitivi or OpenShot may be a better starting point.

DaVinci Resolve is powerful, but it’s probably overkill for simple social media videos and may take more time to learn. If you only need basic edits, start with OpenShot or Pitivi instead. Command-line tools like FFmpeg can handle simple operations too, but they aren’t as beginner-friendly.
