What's Wrong with My LGA 1151 Socket?

I'm having an issue with an LGA 1151 socket on a motherboard that's stuck in a boot loop and showing no video output when I try to use it with an i3 8300. There's a broken pin that looks bent, but I'm wondering if the plastic under the socket might have melted or if it's just an optical illusion. I've attached a photo for reference: https://ibb.co/wFn3Gbv2. What could have caused this damage?

That looks like a bent pin that might not be making proper contact with the CPU. It could definitely lead to booting issues.

It sounds like the i3 might have experienced some sort of mini explosion that damaged the socket. Itโs possible that the short could have affected other components as well. I'd take a close look at everything before continuing to use it.

Could just be some dust or maybe even liquid that's settled in there. A closer inspection might help you figure it out. You canโt really tell much from that picture, though!

Honestly, you might never truly know how extensive the damage is. If the motherboard isn't working, it might be best to just replace it.

RepairNerd: Yeah, if the pins are bent, the best bet is to get a replacement. Itโs tough to say just how much damage there is without a thorough check.
