When can I expect RAM prices to drop again?

I just landed a job and was excited to upgrade the RAM in my PC, which currently has two 16GB sticks. However, due to the current surge in AI demand, RAM prices have shot up significantly. I'm curious if anyone has insights on how long this situation might last. Do you think prices will return to a more reasonable range in a few months, or might it take even longer? It could take months to years for RAM prices to stabilize. Just like with the COVID crypto boom, we might be in for a long wait if history repeats itself.

Honestly, with AI development still on the rise, it's likely that prices will remain high for a while. I did find some DDR4 3200 sticks at a decent price, but I'm unsure about how trustworthy the brand is.

If new factories are built, we might see some relief in 2-3 years. But the chip shortages are hitting all kinds of industries hard, even companies like AMD can't keep up with demand right now.

I've come across a few sources suggesting that while prices aren't great now, they could get worse by 2026. eBay could be a good option for pre-owned RAM if you need to make a purchase.

No one can predict for sure, but RAM manufacturers are hinting that they can't ramp up production fast enough. So, don’t expect significant price drops in the near future.
