I'm looking for an extremely short USB cable, ideally around 4 or 5 cm long. It needs to be USB-C to USB-C, but I haven't been able to find one through the usual online stores. Any recommendations, or is making one myself the better option?

There are short USB-C cables available from regular online retailers too, including roughly 8 cm models. If 4–5 cm isn’t essential, that slightly longer size will be easier to find.
Try checking specialty cable listings on international marketplaces. Very short USB-C to USB-C cables do exist, although the selection can be inconsistent and shipping may take a while.
At that length, the cable may be fairly stiff, especially if it has thick insulation or supports high data-transfer speeds. A short flexible cable or a compact angled adapter might work better depending on how much movement you need.
You could make one by cutting a USB-C cable and replacing the connector, but USB-C wiring is complicated and easy to get wrong. It’s generally safer to buy a purpose-built cable unless you already have the tools and experience.
