Where can I find a reliable NVMe SSD for around $70?

I'm looking for an affordable NVMe SSD and have a budget of about $70. I'm open to buying new or used, but I'd prefer something reliable and want to know what capacities and models are realistic at this price. Recommendations may depend on my country and local availability.

At this budget, a new 512GB PCIe Gen 3 drive is probably the realistic target. Something like a Patriot P300 may fit, with the 256GB version often costing less. Prices and availability vary a lot by country, so include your location before buying.

There are inexpensive 512GB Gen 3 drives available, but donโt choose solely by capacity. Check reviews for sustained-write performance, warranty coverage, controller quality, and whether the model has a reasonable reliability record. If you can stretch the budget slightly, the extra cost may be worthwhile.

Iโd avoid unknown-brand bargain SSDs if the drive will hold important files. Very cheap models can use lower-quality components and may fail earlier. Itโs usually better to buy a reputable OEM drive used than a completely untested new one.
SilverMaple31: Used can be a good deal, but only if you can check the driveโs health, power-on hours, and total writes before paying.

Look for used drives from local computer recyclers, repair shops, or secondhand listings. You might find a 512GB or even 1TB OEM NVMe drive near your budget, especially from a laptop that was otherwise damaged. Test it first and make sure it has no bad health indicators.
MellowCedar42: Iโll check local used listings and try to test the drive before buying.

MellowCedar42: That makes sense. I may spend a little more on the SSD and delay buying extra RAM.
