I'm trying to build my first PC and have been looking for an RTX 4070 in Canada, but I haven't had much luck finding one. My budget is around $700–$800, and I'm open to buying used. I've checked Facebook Marketplace and a little bit of eBay, but sellers often don't respond and I'm unsure how to avoid scams. Any advice on where to look or how to verify a listing?

For Marketplace purchases, ask for the exact model, a photo of the card powered on, and a screenshot showing it recognized by the computer. Meet in a public place or test it before paying, and be cautious of prices that are much lower than comparable listings. Don’t send deposits or use payment methods without buyer protection.
There should be plenty available through used hardware marketplaces and local listings. Since you’re new to building a PC, confirm that your power supply has the right wattage and connectors, and check the seller’s history before arranging a deal. If a seller refuses basic verification or keeps pressuring you, move on to another listing.
Used listings on Facebook Marketplace and eBay are probably your best options in that price range. There have been quite a few RTX 4070s sold on eBay for under $700 recently, so it’s worth checking completed sales and setting up search alerts. For local deals, test the card in person if possible and avoid sending payment before you’ve seen it.
I’ll keep checking eBay too. I’ve mostly been looking on Facebook, but I’m definitely worried about getting scammed.
