I've never built a PC before, but I'm planning a high-end build and would like to buy an NVIDIA RTX 5080. The prices I'm seeing on Amazon and NVIDIA's website are much higher than expected. Since I live in Italy, which retailers should I check, and what would be a realistic price for this graphics card? I specifically need NVIDIA features, so switching to a different brand isn't an option.

In Italy, you can check retailers such as Nexths, Drako, and AK Informatica, along with Amazon. However, finding an RTX 5080 at its official MSRP is unlikely. Current pricing around €1,400–€1,500 is unfortunately fairly normal, especially with limited supply and demand from AI-related workloads.
Amazon appears to be one of the cheaper options in Italy at the moment, with some MSI RTX 5080 Ventus models selling for roughly €1,400. It’s worth comparing several retailers and watching prices, but I wouldn’t expect a major discount down to the originally advertised MSRP anytime soon.
The RTX 5080 has generally been poor value at launch pricing. It’s only modestly faster than an RTX 5070 Ti while costing noticeably more and offering the same VRAM capacity. A Radeon 9070 XT can be much cheaper, but if you need NVIDIA-specific features or CUDA, paying extra for the 5080 may still be justified.
Before buying, make sure you’re paying for features you’ll actually use. If CUDA or NVIDIA-specific software support is essential, stick with NVIDIA; otherwise, cards such as the RTX 5070 Ti or Radeon 9070 XT may offer better value for gaming.
