I've run into some issues and lost my Windows 10 installation box, so I'm in need of an activation key for a fresh install. Can anyone point me to reliable places to buy one these days? Also, I still have access to my previous PC where my working key was used, but I can't revert to that Windows installation. However, I can access the BIOS; is there any chance I can retrieve the activation key from there?

Just be cautious of buying keys off sketchy websites. As a rule of thumb, anything that’s priced way below the normal range (like $5-$30) usually turns out to be grey market keys—definitely not legit. Stick to well-known retailers!
You might want to check your Microsoft account at account.microsoft.com. If your old PC is registered there, the Windows license should be linked to your account. Just log in with that account on your new build and it should work!
If your old system is completely out of commission but you have another working system, you could use a tool like NirSoft ProduKey to scan the drive and retrieve the Windows key used. It’s a handy solution!

That's a great tip! I had no idea it could be that easy. I'll definitely try it out!
