I have a laptop with an i7 processor and an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti. I play games occasionally, but I'm not looking for a gaming-focused or bloated distribution. I'd prefer an atomic or immutable distro and would like recommendations that work well with Nvidia drivers without requiring too much setup.

Fedora’s atomic options are a solid place to start. Fedora Kinoite is a good choice if you want KDE Plasma, while Fedora Silverblue works well with GNOME. They’re reliable and clean, although you’ll generally need to install the Nvidia driver yourself from the terminal.
If this is your first Linux installation, an atomic system may add an extra learning curve. Regular Fedora, Linux Mint, or a lightweight Fedora-based setup with XFCE could be simpler while still using modest system resources.
Bazzite is probably the easiest recommendation if gaming support matters at all. It includes Nvidia drivers and gaming tools, but you can still use it as a normal desktop rather than treating it like a dedicated console system.
There are plenty of other options, including openSUSE Aeon, but check the Nvidia situation before choosing. SteamOS-style systems may not currently provide the Nvidia support you need, so they’re not the safest pick for this laptop.
