My PC died, so I'm planning to move from AM4 to AM5 with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and 32GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR5-6000 CL30 memory. I'm comparing these motherboards and would appreciate some advice on whether the extra cost is worthwhile: ASUS TUF Gaming B850-PLUS for €174.80, MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk WIFI for €199, or Gigabyte AORUS B850 ELITE WIFI7 for €190. Is one clearly better, or would a less expensive B650 board make more sense for this processor?

The MSI Tomahawk would be my pick, followed by the ASUS TUF. That said, a B650 board would also be perfectly adequate for a 7800X3D, so there’s no need to pay a premium for a high-end board unless its extra features are important to you.
The Gigabyte board is a solid option. It has a convenient magnetic Wi-Fi antenna, plenty of connectivity, and substantial M.2 heatsinks with thermal pads included for the SSD slots.
I’d probably choose whichever of the three is cheapest, as they should all run the 7800X3D without any meaningful performance difference. Spend extra only if you specifically need features like better Wi-Fi, more USB ports, or additional storage support.
A reasonably priced B650 motherboard should handle this CPU just fine. The 7800X3D doesn’t require an expensive motherboard, and DDR5-6000 CL30 is a sensible memory choice. Check the board’s BIOS support, VRM cooling, M.2 slots, and rear I/O rather than choosing based on the chipset name alone.
That makes sense. I mainly want reliable memory support and enough connectivity, so I’ll compare the B650 options and the feature lists before deciding.
