I'm looking to upgrade my RAM, but the prices are pretty high right now. I'm trying to decide between getting a 14600k or a 265k, both priced at $160 and compatible with DDR5. Alternatively, should I opt for the 14700k and go for DDR4? Would it be better to pair the 14600k with DDR4 instead if there's not much difference in performance? I play games at 1440p and want to make the best choice for CPU and RAM.

If choosing DDR5 means you have to cut back on your GPU performance, stick with DDR4. For 1440p gaming, having a stronger GPU will give you a bigger boost than a slightly better CPU.
If you're starting fresh, I'd suggest looking at the AMD AM5 platform for DDR5. It's generally a better option for future upgrades.

I already have a 5070 ti, so I'm trying to find the best CPU and RAM combo.
