Which CPU is the best value for my B650E build with an RTX 3060 Ti?

I'm putting together a gaming PC with an ASUS TUF Gaming B650E-E WIFI motherboard, 16GB of DDR5 memory, and an NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti. I'm looking for a CPU that offers a good balance of price and performance for this graphics card. I may upgrade to an RX 9060 XT later, so I'd like something that will still pair well with it without overspending.

If you play CPU-heavy games or want extra headroom for a significantly faster graphics card later, a Ryzen X3D chip is worth considering. The Ryzen 5 7600X3D is a strong option where available, while the Ryzen 7 7800X3D makes more sense if you want a higher-end long-term build. With an RTX 3060 Ti, though, the cheaper Ryzen 5 chips are likely the better value.

For a straightforward value choice, look at the Ryzen 5 7500F, Ryzen 5 7600, or Ryzen 5 7600X—whichever is cheapest in your area. Any of those should pair well with the RTX 3060 Ti and leave plenty of performance for a midrange future GPU upgrade.

I’ll mainly be using the PC for gaming, so I’m leaning toward one of the Ryzen 5 options.

The Ryzen 5 7600X is a particularly good gaming choice if you find it on sale. It offers strong performance now and should be more than capable of keeping up with a future RX 9060 XT. A Ryzen 5 9600X is also worth considering if the price difference is reasonable.

I’d think twice about upgrading specifically to an RX 9060 XT unless you’re getting a very good deal, since the improvement may not feel substantial enough. It could be better to keep the 3060 Ti longer and save for a more significant GPU upgrade. Also, moving to 32GB of RAM would be worthwhile for modern gaming, although current memory prices may affect the timing.
