I'm choosing a processor for a new PC build with an RX 9070 XT. I'll mainly play at 1440p on high settings, and these are the best prices I found in Turkey: $195 for the Ryzen 5 9600X, $260 for the Ryzen 7 9700X, or $325 for the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. They're all tray CPUs, and I can afford any of them, but I'd prefer to save money if the performance difference isn't substantial. I'm planning to use 32GB of Patriot Viper DDR5-6000 CL30 memory.

The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is the strongest gaming-focused option, especially for CPU-heavy games, strategy titles, and games with lots of assets. Its extra cache can also improve frame-time consistency and reduce occasional stutters. That said, the 9600X and 9700X are still capable CPUs, and the 7800X3D may not deliver much more average FPS at 1440p when the RX 9070 XT is the limiting factor. At $130 more than the 9600X, it’s mainly worth it if you want the best gaming performance and smoother lows rather than the best value.
For the best balance, I’d lean toward the Ryzen 7 9700X. It gives you eight cores for only $65 more than the 9600X, while leaving $65 in your pocket compared with the 7800X3D. At 1440p, the GPU will often matter more than the CPU, so the 9700X should be plenty for high-refresh gaming and general use. Choose the 7800X3D if you play lots of competitive or CPU-heavy games and want maximum gaming performance; otherwise, the 9700X is probably the sensible middle ground.
I’m also considering a 7800X3D for a budget build. Have you seen how well it performs with an RX 9070 XT, especially with memory prices being so high?
