Which CPU should I choose for better Valorant performance?

I'm currently using a Ryzen 5 5600X with 32GB of DDR4 RAM and an RTX 3060. My main goal is to play Valorant, but even with a 400Hz monitor, my PC isn't delivering the FPS I need. With RAM prices being high, I'm considering a CPU upgrade that is compatible with my existing DDR4 RAM. Is the Intel i7 14700K a sensible option, or is it more than I really need?

For more FPS, the 14700K will require a new motherboard. If you're aiming to enhance your frames in Valorant, upgrading your GPU could also help, but it’s worth noting that GPUs generally don't impact FPS significantly in that game.

I'd suggest the i5 14600K instead. The performance gap between it and the 14700K isn't huge for gaming, so it could save you some cash while still providing a better experience.

Honestly, switching from one DDR4 platform to another seems like a waste of money. If I were you, I'd stick with your motherboard and maybe consider the 5800X3D instead. Otherwise, you might be better off holding onto what you have.

I made the jump from the 5600X to the 14700K, and the difference is incredible! It’s like night and day once you upgrade.

The i7 14700K is a solid choice if you're looking for a performance boost. Just be cautious since the 13th and 14th gen Intel CPUs have some reported manufacturing issues. You might want to check out options like the Ryzen 7 5700X3D or 5800X3D if you can find good deals, though they might be challenging to get at a reasonable price.
