Hey everyone! I'm building my first PC in a few years, and I could really use some advice on choosing a CPU. I'm not a total newbie, but I wouldn't call myself an expert either. I'm aiming to create a gaming rig that can also handle streaming and recording with software like OBS or Nvidia Shadowplay alongside some light video editing for game clips. I'll often have other applications like Discord, Spotify, and browsers running in the background, too. So, for this setup, should I go with the Ryzen 9800X3D or fork out an extra $100 for the Ryzen 9900X3D for those extra cores?

Just a heads up, the 9900X3D might actually perform worse in gaming than the 9800X3D. It really depends on whether you value more cores for multitasking or better performance in games. Most users find that the 9900X3D doesn't make much sense since the gaming performance is actually lower than the 9800X3D.

But wait, the 9 is a Ryzen 9! Does that mean it’s automatically better? I thought more expensive equals more performance! It’s not a scam, right?
