Which CPU Should I Pair With a 16GB 9060 XT for 1080p and Future 1440p Gaming?

I'm choosing between the Ryzen 5 9600X, Ryzen 7 9700X, and Ryzen 7 7800X3D for a system using a 16GB 9060 XT. I'll mainly play at 1080p, but I may move to 1440p later. In my country, the 9600X costs about โน66,000, while the 7800X3D is around โน100,000โroughly 50% more. Is the extra cost for the 7800X3D worthwhile, or would the 9600X or 9700X be a better-balanced choice?

The 9700X is a reasonable middle ground if you want more cores for multitasking or productivity, but it may not offer enough gaming benefit over the 9600X to justify a large price increase. If you specifically want an X3D chip, look for the least expensive compatible option, such as a 7600X3D if itโs available locally.

It depends on the games you play and your target frame rate. If youโre aiming for very high-refresh-rate 1080p gaming, the extra 3D cache can help with average FPS and reduce stutters in certain titles. For normal 1080p or future 1440p gaming, though, the 9600X should be a sensible match.

Iโd only buy the 7800X3D if you have extra money and care about maximizing CPU-limited performance. The cache can improve frame-time consistency in some games, but it wonโt transform performance once the 9060 XT becomes the bottleneck. For value, the 9600X is the safer choice.

For a 9060 XT, the 9600X should be more than enough, especially at 1440p where the GPU will usually be the limiting factor. The 7800X3D can deliver higher minimums and smoother performance in some CPU-heavy games, but paying 50% more is difficult to justify for this graphics card. Iโd choose the 9600X and put the savings toward a stronger GPU or other components.
