Which GPU and CPU combo is better for 4K gaming?

I'm trying to decide between two setups for gaming at 4K. The first option is an RTX 5070 Ti paired with a Ryzen 7800X3D for £923.20. The second option is the same RTX 5070 Ti with a Ryzen 9600X for £795.20. I'm wondering if choosing the 9600X will significantly affect my performance at 4K, especially since I'll be using upscaling. I've heard that the X3D series offers a substantial performance boost, particularly with features like DLSS. Any insights would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Check out this video to help you decide: https://youtu.be/gpN4nyftQ3M?si=xXZxzpxHgt--f7V8. It covers a lot about performance at 4K! Just keep in mind that it might not take into account upscaling, which is a big part of your plan.

Good point! I’m really looking at how upscaling affects performance, too.

At 4K, you're usually more limited by your GPU than your CPU. So, either CPU paired with the RTX 5070 Ti should give you a pretty similar experience. The Ryzen 7800X3D does perform better in certain games, but you’ll notice more of that advantage at lower resolutions like 1080p or 1440p. If you’re playing CPU-intensive games, the Ryzen 7 might have some benefits, but overall both chips should serve you well for 4K.
