Which GPU makes more sense for my new gaming PC: RX 9070 XT or RTX 5070 Ti?

I'm finishing a new gaming PC and the graphics card is the last major component I need to buy. I'll mainly be playing AAA single-player games, along with some competitive titles. I'm deciding between the XFX Mercury RX 9070 XT Magnetic Air, the ASUS TUF RTX 5070 Ti OC, and the MSI Gaming Trio RTX 5070 Ti. The rest of the build includes a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, MSI MAG B850M Mortar WiFi motherboard, 32GB of DDR5-6000 CL30 memory, a Samsung 990 Pro 2TB SSD, a 360mm cooler, a DeepCool CH260 case, and a Corsair SF1000W power supply. Which card would you choose for this system, and is the RTX 5070 Ti's extra cost worthwhile compared with the RX 9070 XT?

The RX 9070 XT is a sensible choice for this build, especially for AAA gaming at high resolutions where its extra VRAM can help. The XFX Mercury model has been working well overall, although graphics drivers havenโ€™t been completely flawless. That said, there havenโ€™t been major problems that should concern a first-time builder. Choose the RTX 5070 Ti mainly if you value NVIDIAโ€™s upscaling, ray-tracing, or software features enough to justify paying more and accepting less VRAM.

MellowCedar47: Have you run into any serious issues with that graphics card? This is my first PC build, so reliability is one of my main concerns.

The prices are the most important detail here. The RTX 5070 Ti and RX 9070 XT perform fairly similarly in regular gaming, but the 5070 Ti is often considerably more expensive. NVIDIA may offer better upscaling and related features, but the RX 9070 XT generally provides strong value and more VRAM. Unless you specifically want NVIDIAโ€™s feature set, the AMD card is probably the better buy if the price gap is large.

MellowCedar47: The AMD card is roughly a couple hundred cheaper where Iโ€™m shopping, so thatโ€™s what makes the decision difficult.
