Which GPU Should I Choose for My New PC Build: RTX 5070 or RX 9070XT?

Hey everyone! I'm in the process of putting together my first PC build and could use some guidance. I'm aiming to play games at 1080p for fast-paced shooters and 1440p for more narrative-driven titles. Here are the specs I'm working with:

- **CPU**: Core i7 14700K (I'll upgrade to an AIO cooler later)
- **Motherboard**: Asus Prime Z790-A WIFI
- **RAM**: Vengeance 2x16 6000MHz DDR5
- **Storage**: Lexar NM620 256GB NVMe for Windows + Samsung 990Pro 2TB with heatsink
- **Power Supply**: Cooler Master GX III 850

For the GPU, I'm trying to decide whether to go with the RTX 5070 or the RX 9070XT to avoid any bottlenecking. Does this build seem solid, and is there anything I should change? Thanks a lot for any input!

For gaming, the RX 9070XT is your best bet. Also, switching to an AM5 setup with either a 9800X3D or 7800X3D would enhance the build.

What would be a good AM5 alternative to the Core i7 14700K?

If you’re stuck between the 5070 and the 9070XT, I lean towards the Nvidia option for general performance, but if it's a 9070XT versus the non-TI 5070, definitely go for the 9070XT. It's got better specs overall!

I noticed the RX 9070XT has more VRAM and better frequencies, but the 5070 has 28Gbps GDDR7 memory compared to the 20Gbps GDDR6 on the 9070XT. What do you think about that?

I'd recommend considering an AM5 platform instead. The Intel setup you're looking at is kind of outdated and won't leave much room for upgrades down the line.

This is my first build, and I don't plan on upgrading it, so would that really affect me?
