The 5050 is similar to the 3060, but the 3060 usually comes at a lower price and has better specs, including 12GB of VRAM.
Honestly, the 5050 might be an upgrade from integrated graphics, but you can definitely find better alternatives in the used market for a similar price.

Before making a decision, what specs are you working with, what's your budget, and where are you located? I wouldn't recommend the 5050 unless it’s super cheap or you need it for an OEM build that requires a low-profile card.
I’m in South America, and I’m building a new PC with a Ryzen 7 9700x, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, and an MSI MAG A650GL.
Seriously, avoid the XX50 series entirely. You'll get way more bang for your buck on the used market. Look for a 3060 series or a 6700 AMD. The performance-to-price ratio for the XX50 cards is really disappointing if you're into gaming.
