I'm currently using an RX 580 8GB and looking to upgrade my GPU. I'm not aiming for the highest-end option, but I want something that will keep my build running well for a few more years. Both the RTX 2070 and RX 5700 XT fit my budget, and I'm also planning to upgrade my CPU to a Ryzen 5 5000 series chip soon since I've found some good deals. I don't play games that utilize ray tracing, so I'm more interested in raw performance and driver support. Based on this, which card would serve me better?

I might be in the minority, but I say go for the 5700 XT if it's cheaper. It’s fairly comparable to the 2070 Super and can outperform the 2070 by a bit in most games. Sure, you miss out on DLSS, but AMD's FSR 2.1 is still pretty solid. If the 5700 XT is lower in price, that's what I’d pick.
Why not consider grabbing a newer generation card? They can often be found at good prices these days!
Not everyone has the budget for brand new cards though; sometimes you have to stick with what you can afford!
Definitely go with the 2070. It has more stable drivers and offers DLSS, which allows for better performance especially at higher resolutions like 1440p. The 5700 XT had some driver issues at launch, though I’m not sure how it's doing now.
That makes sense! DLSS seems like a big plus, especially for future-proofing.
I'd lean towards the RTX 2070. It's got better support for features like DLSS upscaling, which can really help improve performance in various games.
If both cards are at the same price, I’d say the RTX 2070 wins simply for access to DLSS. It's a superior upscaling option that can really enhance visuals.

I agree, I've seen the benchmarks too and the 5700 XT looks promising! Plus, I have more experience with AMD cards, so I'm leaning that way.
