I'm looking to upgrade my old PC, which has been running for over a decade. My current setup includes an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor, an ASUS TUF Gaming B550-Plus motherboard, and 32 GB of DDR4 RAM running at 3600MHz, all powered by a 650W PSU. I'm debating between getting the RX 6600 or the Intel Arc B580. Which one would be a better fit for my build?

I think it's a pretty straightforward choice. The Intel Arc B580 definitely has the edge over the RX 6600 when it comes to performance and VRAM—it's about 1.5 times more than the RX. If you're after raw power, go for the B580!

Just keep in mind that without PCIe 4.0, the B580 might not perform at its best. You’d ideally want to upgrade your CPU to something like the Ryzen 5 5600 to really harness its capabilities. Personally, I've had a good experience with RX 6600 cards even in PCIe 3.0 systems like yours. Plus, they've been pretty affordable lately, often around $150. But long-term, a B580 with an upgraded CPU could be the better route.

Honestly, the B580 is the way to go. It's significantly faster and offers much more VRAM. Intel's drivers have had some issues, but overall, the performance difference is huge. Just like some others mentioned, if you’re considering a CPU upgrade, going for the 5600 or 5600X would be a smart move too.

Don't forget to consider your OS! Are you thinking about using Windows 11 or Linux? Depending on your choice, it might affect your performance and compatibility with either card.
