I'm considering getting another monitor that matches my current MSI Pro MP245V 23.8" Full HD 100Hz display. The issue is that my graphics card only has one HDMI port in use, but it has three DisplayPort outputs available. Should I go with a DisplayPort to VGA adapter or a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter for the best performance?

DP is the better choice for sure. VGA is really outdated since it's analog, while DP is fully digital.

Absolutely! VGA likely won't let you utilize your monitor's full resolution. It's mainly there for legacy support.

DP to HDMI is definitely the way to go. It avoids the pitfalls of lower picture quality and compatibility issues with VGA, staying in the digital realm and allowing for better resolution and refresh rates. Use DP to VGA only if you absolutely have to.

Always opt for the digital connection if you can help it. VGA is analog and, honestly, it's 2025! Most new displays don’t even support VGA anymore. We prefer to use DP to DP wherever possible.

DisplayPort to HDMI works super well for me. Plus, it carries audio, so I can use the monitor's headphone jack as an extra audio output.
