For a beginner, Linux Mint, Zorin OS, or Ubuntu are solid starting points. Mint and Zorin are familiar to people coming from Windows, and Mint includes convenient tools for installing proprietary Nvidia drivers. If gaming is your main goal, Bazzite is more specialized. Once you’re comfortable with Linux, you can explore distributions such as CachyOS, but the simpler options are usually better when you’re just getting started.
The most important missing detail is your exact hardware—especially the Nvidia GPU model, along with your CPU and amount of RAM. Driver support and the best distribution can vary quite a bit depending on whether the card is an older GTX model or a newer RTX one.
Fedora is another good option. After enabling the RPM Fusion repositories, installing the appropriate Nvidia driver is usually just a couple of commands followed by a reboot. You’ll need to select the correct driver branch for your card, such as a legacy version for older GPUs or the current driver for newer models.
