I'm looking for advice on what Linux distribution would run smoothly on my old PC. Here are the specs: AMD Sempron 3000+, 1GB RAM, and a 128GB HDD. I tried using Linux Mint, but it felt a bit sluggish. Are there any lightweight distros that would work better for this setup?

You might want to give Debian with the LXQT desktop environment a shot. It’s lightweight and should perform decently on your hardware.

It really depends on what you want to accomplish with your PC. If you’re looking for a home server, I recommend lighter desktop environments like XFCE or MATE. Cinnamon can be a bit too resource-heavy for your setup. Casual tasks should also be manageable on something lightweight.

I’m mainly looking to set up a home server, but I’m not sure if this PC can handle it since it’s quite old.
