I'm new to using Linux and looking to set up a distro on my older laptop. I have basic experience with Ubuntu, which I use for Python programming in a virtual machine at school, but I'm still a beginner. My laptop has some pretty outdated specs: an AMD Dual Core Processor E1-7010 (1.5 GHz), AMD Radeon R2 Graphics, and 4 GB of DDR3 RAM. I primarily plan to use it for web browsing, document writing, small Python scripts, and learning how to use Linux. Do you think Linux Mint would be the better option for ease of use and performance considering my limited experience? If so, which version should I go for? I've also thought about trying Arch Linux, as it's known for allowing users to build their system from the ground up. However, I'm unsure if it would be lighter for my hardware, given that I've seen many people run KDE Plasma or GNOME on Arch, which could be too heavy for my setup. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Mint might run okay, but consider using the Xfce edition or even Lubuntu, which is lighter. That way, you can ensure a smoother experience with your specs. Stick with Mint for now until you're more comfortable!
