I'm in the US and have a Micro Center about an hour away. My laptop died, so I'm putting together a desktop using parts I already own: an RTX 2070 Super, 1TB WD Black NVMe SSD, NZXT H510 case, and an EVGA 450W 80+ power supply. I mainly need the PC for studying, media, and gaming, with Rust likely being the most CPU-intensive game I play.
I'm considering three bundles: the Ryzen 5 5600X3D with a B550 motherboard and 16GB of DDR4, the Ryzen 5 7600X3D with a B650 motherboard and 16GB of DDR4, or the Intel Core Ultra 5 250K Plus with a B860 motherboard and 32GB of DDR5-6000. My budget is ideally under $600, and I'd prefer the best performance per dollar rather than spending the maximum just because I can.
I may also need to buy a CPU cooler and replace the 450W power supply. Which bundle makes the most sense for this build? I'm open to other suggestions, including whether the more expensive Intel 270K Plus bundle is worthwhile.

The 7600X3D-style bundle is the better gaming-oriented option if you value the newer platform and future CPU upgrades, but the limited 16GB of RAM makes it less attractive at its price. If the cheaper 7500X3D bundle is genuinely around $400, it may offer better value than the $450 7600X3D bundle, provided you’re comfortable upgrading the memory later.
Choose the 7600X3D or 7500X3D if the savings allow you to buy a better graphics card soon. Otherwise, the 250K Plus bundle gives you a more balanced system immediately because of its 32GB memory kit.
The Core Ultra 5 250K Plus bundle looks like the strongest overall value, especially because it includes 32GB of dual-channel DDR5 instead of only 16GB. It should be around the 7600X3D level in gaming with your RTX 2070 Super, while being much faster in heavily threaded workloads than the 5600X3D. The bundle is roughly $500, leaving room in the budget for a decent cooler and power supply.
A Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE or similar dual-tower cooler should be plenty. I’d also replace the 450W unit with a quality 650–750W model; something like the be quiet! Pure Power 13 M 750W would be a good fit.
I mostly game, study, and watch media, so if the 250K Plus performs similarly to the 5600X3D in games, would all that extra multi-core performance be wasted for me?
If keeping the total below $600 is the priority, look for a discounted AM4 or LGA1700 setup instead of paying for the newest platform. A 5600X3D bundle can still be a good match for the RTX 2070 Super and should handle Rust well, although 16GB of memory is less comfortable today than 32GB.
The important thing is to use two memory sticks rather than a single stick, and to budget for the cooler and PSU. Your existing 450W supply is marginal for this system and may also be quite old, so I wouldn’t rely on it long-term.
